The Hinchley Wood Fellowship (renamed) continues to enjoy all the activities previously favoured by the Women’s Wednesday Fellowship
In October, Jean Hoseason led us in a very enjoyable Quiz. She had collected a number of quiz sheets from various cruises she had been on, and the result was a lively and informative evening with plenty of jolly competition. The prize was a box of lovely chocolate biscuits, in good time for Christmas supplies.
In November, we were treated to a talk by Ted W-Peacock on his life in the world of publishing, working for Pan Books (part of the Macmillan Group). As Sales Manager he had an opportunity to meet a wide range of authors – including Dick Francis, James Herriot and Clive James. Ted’s talk certainly captured our imagination.
We were grateful to Jean Hoseason who, on behalf of both the Hinchley Wood Fellowship and the Mother’s Union, presented, with the help of friends, “BC to AD” – a celebration of Christmas with music and readings. The sherry and mince pies added to a very convivial
We started the New Year in fine style with another delicious lunch at the
Surbiton Golf Club. This special event is always eagerly anticipated, and once more our thanks go to Moira Beardshall for organising this, and also to Janet Critchley for co-ordinating the tickets.
Outings at the end of 2019 included the Enigma Concert in October at St. Christopher’s Church, the Joyce Grenfell entertainment at Vera Fletcher Hall, the Thameside Harmony Chorus Concert and Tea at Long Ditton Village Hall and, in December, the Pantomime, Cinderella, at Vera Fletcher Hall.
