Sunny California beckons for Hinchley Wood Sixth Former!
Hinchley Wood Sixth Former, Lucy Smith, is delighted to have been accepted to study at Scripps College in California.
Scripps is a highly selective college that boasts an enviable student to staff ratio of 10:1; Fiske Guide describes it as “easily the premiere women’s college on the West Coast” and its 32 acre campus is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world!
It was a long process for Lucy to secure her place; she was mentored throughout by the Sutton Trust Fulbright Programme, which promotes mutual cultural understanding through educational exchange between the UK and America. As well as receiving a lot of training and support Lucy had to travel to Boston for ACT tests, for which she was funded by the Sutton Trust. She also took the opportunity to visit several American Universities to gain a better understanding of their education systems. The Sixth Form Team at Hinchley Wood is both delighted and proud of this amazing achievement.
