Hinchley Wood Primary School has a new library, which is now officially open.
After a year of hard work by a dedicated group of parents and teachers led by Aimee Gatliffe of the PTA, the new school library has been completed. It was opened by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Councillor Mary Sheldon, who was accompanied by a small group including Mrs Hogan, Deputy Head of Hinchley Wood Primary School, Mr Bartlett, Head of Hinchey Wood School and the Co-Chairs of the Primary School’s PTA, Alex Willson and Clare Bell. After the cutting of the ribbon, the Mayor was shown around by pupils who had won the ‘I love reading because…’ competition which was run at the school.
The PTA had originally agreed to refurbish the old library before a new plan to move the library to a bigger space was put in motion. The new location has 3 separate rooms and much better utilities! Every book was checked and any old or out-of-date books were removed. New stock, particularly in fiction, has been bought. There will be an ongoing focus to purchasing new books once the curriculum is decided.
